This is part of an ongoing case study series "Bitcoin At Work," highlighting the success of Real-World Bitcoin builders on Plume.
Plume’s Real-World Bitcoin mission is simple: turn Bitcoin from the world’s largest idle asset into the backbone of institutional-grade, onchain finance.
By bridging BTC directly into tokenized real-world assets, Plume delivers institutional-grade RWAs with steady, scalable yield.
BIMA, the Bitcoin-backed stablecoin for universal yield, is designed to turn Bitcoin into productive capital through USBD, an omni-chain stablecoin fully backed by BTC. By depositing Bitcoin, users can mint USBD and put it to work across borrowing, lending, swaps, and yield strategies.
Plume provides the compliance-aware, liquidity-rich rails to make this vision scale. Its RWA-native execution environment positions USBD as more than a stablecoin — it anchors Bitcoin as a credit and settlement layer within DeFi.
For BIMA, trust, scalability, and transparency were essential. Plume’s modular architecture, cross-chain interoperability, and growing RWA liquidity made it the right foundation. By building on Plume, BIMA connects Bitcoin’s base-layer security with the composability, speed, and institutional readiness needed for real world Bitcoin.
BIMA engineered USBD to fit the standards of Plume’s institutional ecosystem across three key areas.
BIMA has already shown strong early traction. It has raised more than $2.5M, launched a TVL program targeting $200M pre-mainnet, completed a testnet that validated mint/redeem flows and collateralization mechanics, and secured over $50M in pre-committed TVL from strategic partners.
Looking ahead, BIMA’s roadmap is designed to grow alongside Plume. This includes a mainnet launch across EVM and non-EVM environments with Plume as a priority venue, yield vaults targeting 5–10% APY supported by Plume’s liquidity depth, and broader distribution across exchanges, wallets, and custodians with Plume as the anchor for issuance and settlement.
